Instead of offering the more conventional types of investments such as stocks and bonds, these companies help everyday folk buy something a bit more tangible like gold, silver, and other precious metals. Direct Bullion Better Business Bureau
A good area to start looking for information about a company is through consumer advocacy organizations. One of the most well-known is the Better Business Bureau. Starting in the early 20th Century, this organization has become a household name when evaluating good and bad businesses. Direct Bullion currently holds a rating of A+ through the BBB, which is the highest rating available. It is also an accredited company through the BBB, which means it represents the highest standards for which the Better Business Bureau strives.
This leaves Direct Bullion looking like a company that could take the lead in the gold IRA rollover pack. However, there are a few things to consider. First, there is the BBB’s policy of not letting companies become an A+ rated business without becoming accredited. The second is that to become accredited, a company must pay a fee to the BBB. This leaves many skeptics thinking that the whole rating system the Better Business Bureau employs is rigged and that companies are in reality paying to become rated. It has to be mentioned here that this is a minority view, but nevertheless, it is prudent to check out other ratings and not rely on those of the BBB alone.
Online Research
When looking beyond consumer advocacy organizations like the BBB there are independent consumer reviews that can be found on the internet. On the whole, the vast majority of the reviews are positive and it seems that most people do like working with the company. There are however some notable exceptions.
One customer wrote a review alleging that the agents from Direct Bullion took money for orders that were never shipped. Another customer alleges that the product sent out wasn’t of high quality.
The majority of the negative reviews however refer to the fact that the company doesn’t respond to anything but email, with no way to otherwise call or communicate with the business. On further research we found this to be borne out by the fact that it actually states on the Contact page of the company’s website where they give out their telephone number ‘Please include your email address in your message when you call so that we can respond to your questions’.
Conclusion
There is a lot of positive feedback about Direct Bullion. The negative though in our opinion is that working only through email isn’t good from a consumer standpoint. There is a delay in communication that just doesn’t happen when there is a phone involved. Although consumers don’t like to wait in queues on the phone, they do appreciate a real voice to address their issues. When dealing with the amount of money it takes to buy gold and other precious metals, a little customer service and One-on-One communication can go a long way.
